Spring 2017 Fieldwork Expo

Are you planning to enroll in 166A Fieldwork Seminar and 166B Fieldwork Practicum next semester, Fall 2017?

Do you need to find an internship site for the fall?

If so, please plan to attend the Fieldwork Expo

Date: Fri, May 12, 2017
Time: 10:00 am – 11:30 am
Location: SJSU, Building YUH Room 243

Why should you attend the Expo?
This is your gateway to a successful internship. It has been shown that students who participate in the expo begin their fieldwork hours earlier, and have a higher success rate of completing their 200 hours.

The Fieldwork Expo is a chance for students to:

  • Meet preceptors from many of our internship sites and learn about internship opportunities.
  • Begin the application process before next semester Fall 2017.
  • Dialogue with outgoing student interns about their internship experiences and gain valuable advice.
  • Bring your résumé and your 30-second elevator speech on your interests, strengths, and skills.
  • Network with health professionals in the field and health science students.

Recruiting HS Peer Advisors for Spring 2017

Hello Health Science Students,

Want an awesome way to meet the HS&R department and faculty, while gathering community service hours?

Here is a wonderful opportunity to get involved within the HS&R department! Our current HS Peer Advisors are recruiting for the Spring 2017/Fall 2017 Academic Year. Health Science Peer Advisors are students leaders who work with faculty advisors to offer academic planning advice to Health Science students as they progress along their pathway to graduation. Peer Advisors are also knowledgeable about and encourage campus/department involvement in activities and student organizations. Being a Peer Advisor is a great way to meet other students, work closely with faculty, help others, and learn about our program. If you are interested and meet the Peer Advisor expectations listed above, please fill out our online application by Sunday, January 8th at 8pm.

To be considered for a HS Peer Advisor you need to...
a) Fill out the online application by Sunday, January 8th at 8pm.
b) Be a current enrolled Health Science student, in good academic standing (3.0+ cumulative GPA).
c) Be on track to graduate no sooner than Fall 2017.
d) Have time to take on an additional responsibility (2-4 hours a week).
e) Be available to attend, participate in, and provide assistance during advising events (Not mandatory, but flexible).

If you have any questions, please email hs.peer.advisors@gmail.com
