The application for SJSU students who want to apply to the Health Science major for Fall 2014 is available from now through June 6th. The application is online and open to all current SJSU students who have completed at least 12 units on campus. Spring 2014 grades are required in the calculation, so please be sure you are using your most current and up-to-date transcript for GPA calculations. Academic standing will be available next Thursday, June 5th. If you submit this application prior, you will have to calculate your own GPA that includes your Spring 2014 grades.

Fall 2014 Change of Major Process
Fall 2014 Change of Major Application Process
Health Science impaction criteria
- We will not accept students with a GPA lower than 2.6, but in reality, students who fall lower than a 3.0 are not likely to get in, as we have not accepted below a 3.0 for the past couple of years. Our fall process is typically more competitive for change of majors due to fewer spots to offer because of the high number of transfer students coming in.
- Students must have completed at least 12 units at SJSU before they are eligible to apply to HS.
Fall 2014 HS Application process:
- The fall 2014 online application will be available on Wednesday, May 28th through Friday, June 6th
- We will accept students based on GPA and we will use the higher GPA (SJSU or All College Cum) to favor the students. GPA calculations must include Spring 2014 grades. (See *important note about SOTES below)
- The application will be online and students can get on the list to be notified when it is available by signing up with the department directly, or signing up online here.
Acceptance and Advising process will take place between June 9th and June 20th and we will have online and on-campus options for our newly admitted students.
* Important note about SOTES*
Students who want to apply to HS must complete online SOTES in order to access current academic standing including spring 2014 in time to apply. SOTES must be completed by 5/14 and are available online through my.sjsu. For students who complete all online SOTES, grades will be released May 28th and for students who do not, grades are not released until June 18th.

Online SOTES Spring 2014
It is time for online SOTES again. SOTES are the University survey inviting you to evaluate your courses and instructors. This feedback is very important... Please complete the SOTES for all courses that you are enrolled in before the May 14th deadline. The consequences for not completing SOTES will be a delay in the release of your Spring 2014 grades.
- Students who complete ALL evaluations may access grades Wednesday, May 28.
- Students who DO NOT complete ALL evaluations get access on Wednesday, June 18.
If you are going to be applying to change your major to HS - it is absolutely imperative that you complete your online SOTES. Our application process will consider your spring 2014 grades and you will not be able to apply if you do not have access to a GPA that includes spring grades.
You can access your SOTES through my.sjsu (see prior post for visual).

I hope this is one additional tool that you will find helpful in getting your advising questions answered.

Health Science Group Advising Sessions - Beginning Soon
Questions about your Health Science academic plan?
Please consider attending a group advising session this semester.
The first sessions are scheduled next week for General Academic planning for HS majors. Advising sessions are both on campus and online. To join the online sessions, you will have to register online and you will be sent a link to join the group before the session begins. You will be happier with your online experience if you have a headset and can talk, but you'll be fine if you can just hear and type in your questions.
